The art of reframing

A frame is a complex scheme of beliefs and values that we use to attach meaning to events. Simply put, reframing is the art of looking at an event from a different perspective. How? By distancing from the event and the lens that is used to look at the problem and evaluating them. This uncovers the assumptions, beliefs and schemata that are used to assess the event. By using different frames you’ll be able to view the issue from different angles. Consequently, the meaning you attached to the event changes.
Reframing involves two key questions: Why do we do the things we do the way we do them? How could we do it totally differently? Through reframing we can change our mind about the way society is organised, the way people interact, the way organisations operate, the way we approach situations. And although our frames provide stability in times of change, they need reviewing and adjusting every once in a while. Reframing allows you to adjust your actions and policies. During this workshop we’ll delve into the assumptions and beliefs in the context of strategising.
How does your organisation perceive the world? What frames are used by your organisation. This workshop provides insight into how you can apply reframing in your organisation when strategising.
